🦷Invisalign Orthodontic Treatment🦷

Invisalign Orthodontics

Invisalign is a popular and well-known brand that uses a system of clear removable aligners to gradually straighten and align your teeth. Their aligners are a popular alternative to the more traditional fixed braces because not only are they less visible, but they are also removable.

How Invisalign proceeds

1. Based on the examination and discussion, your Treatment Plan, also referred to as “Clin-Check” is created by your dentist. This 3D animated treatment plan can show you how your teeth will move as you make progress and what your final result will look like.

2. Once the treatment plan is presented to you and have agreed to proceed the orthodontic treatment, your dentist will order your aligners. Once the aligners arrive at the office, it will mark the official beginning of the Invisalign orthodontic treatment.

*Please note that the aligners are sent from the U.S., therefore it may take 1-2 weeks for them to arrive.

Important information

1. Wearing your aligners

- You will receive 4 sets of aligners each appointment. You will exchange to your new aligners after 7-14 days (this will depend on individual progression)

- You can’t obtain great results unless you wear your aligners for over 20 hours DAILY.

- We highly suggest you wear your aligners all day except during meal and brushing time.

- If the dentist sees a slow progression on the treatment, we may order additional aligners.

Therefore, we strongly suggest you wear your aligners properly. This is the crucial key to completing your treatment successfully.

IPR (additional treatment 1.)

Interproximal reduction (IPR) is the practice of mechanically removing enamel between the teeth to achieve orthodontic ends. The doctor removes 0.2~0.5 mm (thickness of two papers pressed together) of the enamel surfaces to help create spaces for teeth shifting and etc.

*The number of IPR differs among patients.

Attachments (additional treatment 2.)

Attachments are little buttons necessary to proceed your treatment. These clear buttons are placed on the surface of the tooth to help strengthen teeth shifting. Because aligners are unable to entirely accomplish alignment changes on its own, attachments provide extra forces to shift teeth into their new, proper locations.

*The number of attachments differs among patients.

Once you complete the aligners: Retainers

- Once the clear aligner treatment has been successfully completed, you must wear retainers to maintain your new alignments.

- The retainer must be worn for around 12~15 hours a day during your first year of completing the orthodontic treatment. Then, 8~12 hours a day during the second year. If you would like to precisely maintain your new alignment, you must wear your retainers during bedtime for the rest of your life.
